Girl's State

Summer is finally here! It just doesn't look like it yet....

The first week of Summer has been spent at Girl's State down in SUU. For those who don't know what it is, the only way I can describe it is...... government camp. You set up an entire state government in one week. You start at city offices, then move on to county, and end with state offices. You learn about commitees, caucuses, electioneering, and being patriotic to your country. It was a great experience! There were some of the coolest girls there, and who knew it was so prestigious!

End of the year stressors

Oh the joys of high school....
The year is winding down! I had thought school couldn't go any slower, till I realized I have a week till AP test week..... shoot. Well, I better get cracking! Sure, I've started to study, but not like I really meant it. So now I have to settle for things like spark note guides and the copious amounts of notes I've taken. The only word I can describe it as is overwhelming! My sleep hours go down, as the work load keeps getting higher and higher!
You know it's bad when your AP history teacher says, "You guys all seem really tired today. Especially you Alix, you just look.....dead." Thanks Mr. Andersen. I thought I was doing pretty good till.... well when your teacher has to take the time to tell you, something is wrong!
So if anyone has any ideas of stress management, time management, or ways to stay awake.... let me know! oh, and testing tips too?

The winner takes all

Sorry about the Mamma Mia reference, I just couldn't think of a better title. I won my election! And to celebrate? Sickness...... No really, I've been sick this whole weekend!

Caitlin Boyce and I opted not to go to morp, and it's a good thing too! (I thought my mock trial semi finals would conflict, and found out they wouldn't too late) We both were sick, so on saturday night we had our own adventure.

It started in a yellow... carriage we'll call it (Caitlin's car is bright yellow, brighter than a taxi) and we had every intention to go to Dippidee. You see, they have the best chocolate cupcakes you will ever eat in your life. And chocolate makes me happy, so duh! I'm going.

False: it was closed. *Imaginary tear rolling down my face*

So we went to Wally World (Wal Mart if you didn't catch that). We loaded up on Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, Juice, and.....Sudafed. What a treasure trove. Not to mention, we pretty much walked through in a daze.

On to the movie. Caitlin had a projector, so we watched a not-going-to-make-us-depressed-about-not-going-to-the-dance-and-stuck-being-sick-at-home movie.... TWILIGHT. Yes, nothing like a bad adaptation of a book to keep you occupied. (This movie was good, this adaptation of a movie was bad)

And at 11, I went home to crash. So thank you Caitlin, you made my weekend! I'm not even saying this sarchastically.

Elections!

Ugh, student body officers have to run for two straight weeks! I'm running with an 80's theme for these weeks. Which of course, means I will be dressing in neon and drenched in hairspray. That's okay though... it's all about the voters! (I'm personally taking time to laugh at this statement) Actually, it really is a popularity contest, but I have good hand outs! Bracelets and necklaces, and they are all in bright colors! So the first picture is the one I put on my poster... going for the "not-serious-not-myspace-creepy-looking" picture. And the second picture is my outfit on the first day! Thank you DI for the sweater.

Yearbook

Oh my gosh.... Senior Year.... a time when you are supposed to theoretically prep yourself for the outreaches of college! That was the plan anyway, but I just got a little side tracked with all the things i can do! Student Council, musical dance theater, drama 3, sterling scholar, AP classes and now yearbook! You're talking to the new photo editor, and I didn't even have to turn in an application! I went into the teacher's room for peer leadership stuff when... the teacher gave me a guilt trip. One lunch later and I'm on the staff! Photo editor. How and I possibly going to do all of this you may ask? No clue, but it shall be done! Bring it on!

A Crazy Week

I can't wait for Friday! I woke up today and thought, "YES! Hallelujah it's Friday!" Then unfortunately reality set in. It was merely Thursday..... shedding a tear right about now? heck yes. I have so much to do, and so little daylight hours to do so!

One item noteworthy is that I tried out for Musical Dance Theater. I got pressured, and literally signed up without consent for it. So, to prove I can be brave.... I did it! The audition is in two parts: dance and song. Well I've taken dance classes for most of my early life. So that's when I hit my big red button: "That was easy." (Please tell me you got that refrence to the commercial?) Anyway, rocked that part. (I just wanted to say rocked is all.) However, in stark contrast was my song audition. I chose "My Favorite Things" from the Sound of Music. Alas... I choked and forgot the words. One of the judges tried to give me a que, but it was the wrong one. -that much i knew! So being the unintentional, red personality, brat that I am... I said, "No that's not it," and kept on singing. It couldn't last long however..... I forgot the tune to this one part... and sang it wrong. I am also a perfectionist/OCD (or CDO if in alphabetical order as it should be) so I had to say aloud, "Oh! I sang that wrong!" Then had to redo it. Ah well, I bet I was the one person on that audition list who could seriously care less if they made it or not. I don't even know if I'd do it if I made it anyway.... so that's my story of the week!

I'm going to run for Student Body Secretary... it's a better job for me

Catch Up

I'm a slacker, I know! However, I got back on eventually...... So anyways, I'm skipping the amounting past, and moving on to the current events! Most recently I went to the Sweetheart's dance. I took one of my best friends since eighth grade, so it was more or less just hanging out. --Except I was paying..... Anyway, we went to a concert for our daydate! The two bands were Benton Paul and John Allred. I had come for allred, but I definitely stayed for Benton Paul! The picture to the left is me and my date waiting in line outside. It was a bit cold, not going to lie!

The picture to the right is the two guys opening. I don't know why they opened together, but it was cool!

Below is Benton Paul
To the right is John Allred

Sorry the pictures are scattered! The "captions" are probably off!
Anyway, onto the story.... It was a masquerade, and I didn't want to carry a mask, so I had my friend paint it on....
You can't see it that well, so I'll have to do one of my self shot ones... crap.

Voila, I've masted the photo tool! Continuing on.... instead of speading forty bucks on pictures we had a girl in our group have a family member take them, grand idea! However they are on a DVD, not a CD, so how do I get them off to print...? Any suggestions let me know! We ate dinner at yet another girl's house which was quite scrum. Then danced away! The music was horrible, but I'm over it! Night over, not even a doorstep scene! I'm a champion star that way!
